Walking Kanda,Tokyo

Hello, this is Adachi.
Thank you so much for always checking out my blog!

This time, I visited JR Kanda Station for a photo shoot.
The cover photo was taken from the platform of Kanda Station.

One of the station’s most iconic sights is this big, bold neon sign—it’s a popular photo spot.
The sign reads “Tosa Tsuru,” which is a sake brand brewed in Kochi Prefecture.

On a personal note, I really love Japanese sake, so I’ll definitely be writing a blog post all about it soon!
I’ll be putting a lot of energy into that shoot, so please stay tuned!

In Tokyo, the cherry blossoms have fallen, and little by little, the temperature is rising as we head toward summer.
It’s hard to believe how cold it was just a short while ago.
Now it’s the perfect season to enjoy drinks outside!

I often come to Kanda, but every time I take a walk, I find myself thinking, “Was this place always here?”
It reminds me how important it is to revisit the same places—you always notice something new.

The photo above shows a taco shop that has a vibe a bit like Shibuya.
The neon lights are beautiful, and even the randomly placed signs and plates have an artistic feel.
They really catch your eye.

Kanda is a neighborhood where many office workers gather.
It has lots of izakayas (Japanese-style pubs), and in some ways, it’s quite similar to Shinbashi, which I introduced in a previous post.

I actually work around here, and during lunchtime, the area is always lively—almost every restaurant is packed.
Kanda is especially known for its curry spots; it’s a highly competitive area for curry lovers.
I have my own favorite curry shop too, and I go there often!

In a back alley.

A man and a woman were having a heated argument.
They seemed to know each other, but probably weren’t a couple.
Both of them appeared to be drunk.
The man was holding the woman’s smartphone, and she kept demanding it back, clearly furious.
I couldn’t catch all the details, but it’s rare to see adults express that kind of raw anger in public.

I hope things didn’t escalate.

When was the last time you got really angry?

This yakitori shop also seemed to appear out of nowhere.
It has a big, glowing neon sign.
I guess I’m just drawn to neon lights at night.

Is there a favorite neon sign in a city you’ve visited?

I’m currently working on creating a photo book.
Since I often shoot rainy nights in Tokyo, it might end up focusing on that theme.

I really want to make it something special—
but the more I care about it, the more cautious I become.

I hope I’ll have some good news to share with you all soon.
I’ll be sharing the progress here on the blog, so stay tuned!

Right now, this photo book project is definitely what I’m putting the most energy into.

Thank you so much for reading today’s post, and for following my blog.
I’d love to hear from you—please feel free to share which post you enjoyed the most in the comments below!

Take care,

Adachi
